How Government Seizes Private Property from Innocent Citizens
Avenida Reforma is a main boulevard in the eastern part of Guatemala City, the capital of Guatemala. It is considered one of the main avenues of the city. It is 2.26 kilometers (1 mi) long, and has an average width of 60 meters (197 ft) from curb to curb.
Avenida Reforma was originally known as Bulevar 30 de Junio, to commemorate the 1871 Liberal Revolution of Miguel García Granados and Justo Rufino Barrios. Construction began in 1892, and it was inaugurated in 1895 during the term of President José María Reina Barrios.[1] Reina Barrios had wanted to showcase Guatemala’s economic development for the 1897 Central American Exposition of 1897; inspired by the Avenue des Champs Elysees in Paris, he commissioned several sculptures and fountains by foreign artists. He also commissioned the construction of the Palacio de la Reforma, a French-style palace that was located at the southern end of the boulevard and functioned as a museum. It is worth mentioning that these expenditures, among other reasons, caused an economic crisis in the country.[2] He was also the first to build a new palace.

The head of the Mexico City Government, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, informed that the Palm Tree that crowns one of the traffic circles on Paseo de la Reforma Avenue will be removed, as it is infected by a fungus and cannot be saved.
The famous Glorieta de la Palma is located at the intersection of Reforma Avenue and Niza Street, a representative symbol in one of the most emblematic avenues that is a reference for those who live and work in this place. In addition, the Mexican Stock Exchange is also located in the area.
In the mid-19th century, Emperor Maximilian ordered the construction of a road from the entrance of Chapultepec Forest to the Zócalo of Mexico City, a road that was baptized “Paseo de la Emperatriz”, in honor of his wife Carlota.
During the Porfiriato period, when a European-style city model was adapted, trees were planted along the avenue, sidewalks and walkways were embellished, lighting was installed and several traffic circles were built in which there would be different monuments.
